Behaviours/On Unreliable Cars: Red For Dead

"Red for dead" I said for wont of nothing better to say.

We shot to a sharp stop at the edge of the crossroads where fast flowing traffic was heading for the city junction.

Stop. Red for dead - Green for go.

The van slowly crossed our path in the far lane, a traffic break, we moved forward.

A sudden breaking, a blind spot.

Unforeseen a red laser was rapidly eating up the space we thought to be vacant, ours for the taking.

The air swished as mere inches from our bonnet the little red car cruised past.

We stopped. Our new/old car stalled right in the middle of the road. Terror.

The lights had changed from red to green, I looked to the right, and there hurtling towards us, all three lanes at peak flow, was the evening traffic.

"Would red be for dead?"

Would we be going in a direction unplanned but maybe pre destined?

The car restarted. Relief.

"Sorry Mum" he said.
