I lay so whitely on the bed
while from above
I saw the neatly tucked
Blue bedspread, crisp sheets.
Pillows and bottles
Feeding me
Venal nourishment
Taking
Liquid poisons
From
My body
Steadily flowing
Then when
Unfettered by the ceiling fabric
I watched the pale body on the bed
And thought to go
Leave
Never to return.
The whiteness, purity of light
Upwards gently moving
Drawn to peace
A bright light, whitely shining
Not wanting to return.
Three beings
Invited me to stay
The light, the peace
Not wanting to return.
My son
So small
Needed me
I wished to see him grow
I loved him
So
I stayed.

Hi, Ajcor--What stands out mostly about this one is the free flow of thought and line enjambment, as if you are recalling a memory. Which I guess you were (?) It is strong and you have a feel for it--you should write more like this.
I feel like this is the strongest line: Unfettered by the ceiling fabric
As it has a definite feel of a spirit about it--an unfettered feeling!

Thank you for your words Lita - and yes it is a strong memory - and the unfettered feeling was how I felt - unhampered by any physical structure - free to look down on what was happening below - I like your word strong - sometimes I am told I am strong but don't always feel this way - so thank you ...cheers
Very nice, ajcor! This reminds me of another near death experience. My former employer had a massive heart attack about 15 years ago (before I knew him), and he described his experience in the hospital--he was surrounded by white, felt no pain, and was completely at peace, with no worries or fears. Mark Twain was there (his idol) to lead him away, but then the paramedics started shouting out his kids names, and when he heard that, he turned around and felt the worst pain in his life radiating out of his chest, and he knew he was back.
I'm glad you also decided to stick around a bit longer and watch your son grow up. :)
Thanks MelissaG - I had three people waiting for me - 1 taller person and 2 smaller people (couldn't see faces) and what i felt was, was that the taller person was my father who died when i was 5 years of age and the 2 smaller people were two babies i had just lost through miscarriage and that they were all there for me - pretty pverwhelming experience really.... thanks for your comment....cheers
