I am not an Animal From The BBC Series

From The BBC Series - I am not an animal.

Although I have never watched this show before - I find that it is a really funny take on life. Fact is I don't remember it showing in Australia.The casting on this show is world class and Peter Baynham is a comedic genius. . It's a shame that it did not catch on well as it might have. But maybe a re-run will occur. It is definitely British humour and may not appeal to all who watch.

The content showcases a satire on the social classes and the various peoples' world view on life. The fact that they, the animals who aren't really animals, are tested to such extremes in an anthropomorphic manner is yet another tongue in cheek look at the social mores as we understand them! The show seems to wittily hone into the class standards which as against the classless society that flourishes around all of us, appears to triumph in a black humour sort of a way.

This show has been applauded loudly on u tube and people are looking for the BBC to do re-runs - the compliments range from "please bring it back" to "mental but fantastic".the latest compliment I read was that "Without a doubt, I am Not an Animal is one the most original shows to emerge from the bowels of the BBC for a long time. I think it's fantastic." I really laughed at the excerpt where the singing owl said he had evolved and he wouldn't fly - he preferred to walk - in the end he did walk after the marauding cats took both his jacket and his "italian" shoes...

I have inserted many short films to give you a taste of this series however as I have watched these excerpts, I find that I do not laugh as much as when I was watch "Walk On The Wild Side". I have to confess that I do prefer this other BBC series; it seems to be more in contact with the combination of the human story with the individual animal aspect and the subsequent marrying of their characteristics to provide gentle poke at the world as we know it. The ultimate union is incredibly funny and a credit to the team who put the series together.

However having said that I do find this series very amusing and clever. And the series name "I am not an animal" why not? well not only am I not an animal I am not human either!.....but somehow I manage to make a very good mixture of both species which endeavors to make everyone laugh and that can only be good!
